Black history question

In the spirit of black history month the Current went around campus and wanted to get the opinion in regards to african american history and thus this question was asked…….

“ Do you feel that Black History is discussed and taught in regular curriculum or should it be implemented more in all levels of educational studies ? Explain your response. “

Lao Broadway is a mass communications major at ARC. She is half african american and half asian . Broadway suggested that black history offered as an option for history studies is great and feels however that there is something to benefit from learning the history of any culture.

“ Im half African American but i dont feel that it should be required to learn about black history” Said Broadway.

“I don't feel asian history should be either. No single race or culture’s history is more important that the other.”

Broadway also suggested focusing on only one culture or source of history is like getting to open only one gift on a holiday.

“There can be plenty to gain from knowing about many races historys. Especially in a diverse country like ours.”

The Current wants to thank Lao Broadway  for their taking the time to be a part of this week’s campus pulse .
